As per the Community Charter Council may choose to exempt certain land or improvements, or both from Taxation.

Not for profit or charitable organizations providing services to the community may apply for tax exemptions on land or improvements that they own.  These include service clubs, religious and not-for-profit organizations.

Organizations are required to apply for these exemptions.  Applications must include:

  • The objectives of the organization;
  • The services provided to the community;
  • Current Annual Budget and most recent Financial statements;
  • Statement of impact;

    FAILURE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION WILL RESULT IN THE PROPERTY NOT BEING CONSIDERED FOR AN EXEMPTION FOR THE FOLLOWING TAX YEAR

These applications will be presented at a Council meeting and Council will decide at that time which exemptions will be allowed.  Review a listing of Property Qualified for Permissive Tax Exemptions as per Community Charter Section 224.
