Recycle BC Changes

Starting January 1, 2023 many single-use and packaging-like products can now be recycled as part of the Village’s residential recycling collection program. Changes to the Recycle BC program have expanded the list of accepted materials in recycling carts to include:

  • aluminum foil
  • thin metal tins
  • metal storage tins (thin gauge)
  • aluminum pie plates
  • aluminum baking dishes
  • plastic cups
  • plastic food storage containers
  • plastic straws
  • plastic stir sticks
  • plastic utensils
  • plastic tape dispensers
  • paper plates
  • paper bags
  • paper gift bags
  • paper party décor

Other items, including glass bottles and jars, flexible plastics and foam packaging can be taken to the South Thompson (Pritchard) Eco-Depot (1595 Martin Prairie Road) from Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. New items now accepted at recycling depots include foam bowls, foam cups, plastic carry-out bags, plastic freezer bags, plastic wrap, plastic drop sheet and squishy cushion packaging.
