Council Meetings

Council meetings are held at 4:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month beginning, with some exceptions. The public will be able to speak on current agenda items at the beginning of all Regular Council meetings.

The opportunity to speak on any municipal matter will be provided at the end of the second Council meeting of the month, except when there is only one meeting in a month, in which case an opportunity to speak on any municipal matter will be provided at that meeting.

The Acting Mayor may chair the Council meeting on the first Council meeting of the month.

If required, special meetings will be convened with appropriate notice as per the Community Charter and Council policy.

How to Address Council

If you are interested in voicing a concern to Mayor and Council, there are a number of options.

Except in unusual circumstances, Council and Committee Agendas are available to the public on the Friday afternoon before a Tuesday meeting. You can also request to be added to the Agenda email contact list instead of having to visit the Village office.

If you see an item you would like to discuss, or require further information, you can call the Village office and our fantastic office staff will be able to put you in touch with the most relevant person. Did you know that you can also contact Council members directly?  Please remember that Council make decisions as a unit and the best approach is to appeal to them collectively in their quorum either in person or by written submission.

Meetings begin at 4:00 p.m., unless otherwise advertised.  The public will be able to speak on current Agenda items at the beginning of the Council meeting on the second Tuesday of the month. The opportunity to speak on municipal matters (formerly held at Committee of the Whole meetings) will be provided at the end of the Council meeting on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Rather than a forum for debate, it is a place to raise concerns.

You can request to be added to a Regular Council Agenda as a Delegation, wherein your delegation can make a 10 minute presentation. The requested to be added as a delegation must be done in writing (email is acceptable), no later than 4:00 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to a meeting.

Correspondence can be submitted to the Corporate Officer by email to chase@chasebc.ca or by fax to 250 679 3070, however the original documents must still be submitted to the Village Office.

Please note that all correspondence submitted to the Village of Chase will form part of the public record and will be published if this matter is before Council or a Committee of Council. The Village considers the author’s address relevant to Council’s consideration of this matter and will disclose this personal information. However, the author’s phone number and email address are not required and should be omitted if the author does not wish this personal information disclosed.
