Each year the Village of Chase accepts applications from organizations looking for financial support. Financial support can come in the form of a Grant in Aid or through a Permissive Property Tax Exemption. All grants and exemptions are subject to an application and review process, are awarded at the discretion of Council, and are dependent on budgetary considerations.
Completed applications and all supporting documentation must be received at the Village Office before the annual deadline. It is the responsibility of each applicant to ensure that their application is complete and all required documents are submitted before the due date. No late submissions will be accepted. Council will review all applications during annual budget deliberations.
To apply for a grant, organizations must:
- Be a not for profit or charitable organization
- Provide services that directly enhance the well-being of residents in the community
- Demonstrate financial need
It is the responsibility of applicants to ensure that their application is complete and provides Council with as much important information as possible. Submission of an application does not guarantee that a grant will be awarded.
Permissive tax exemptions are a means for the Village to support organizations within the community that enhance the quality of life for the residents of Chase. Applications for permissive tax exemptions must meet provincial legislation as set out in section 224 of the Community Charter.
Tax exemptions are awarded at Council’s discretion and can be granted wholly or partly on an eligible property, for a period that Council feels is appropriate. Applicants must own the land and improvements or lease the property directly from the Village. Permissive property tax exemptions do not extend to water and sewer frontage taxes.
Completed applications and all supporting documentation must be received at the Village Office before August 1st. It is the responsibility of each applicant to ensure that their application is complete, and all required documents are submitted before the due date. No late submissions will be accepted.
As per the Community Charter, Council may choose to exempt certain land or improvements, or both from Taxation.
Not for profit or charitable organizations providing services to the community may apply for tax exemptions on land or improvements that they own. These include service clubs, religious and not-for-profit organizations.
Organizations are required to apply for these exemptions. Applications must include:
WARNING: DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION 31 JULY
FAILURE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION WILL RESULT IN THE PROPERTY NOT BEING CONSIDERED FOR AN EXEMPTION FOR THE FOLLOWING TAX YEAR
These applications will be presented at a Council meeting and Council will decide at that time which exemptions will be allowed.
