Garbage
Residential garbage and recycling is collected from Tuesday to Friday. Both recycling and garbage are picked up on the same day so please ensure you have both bins at the boulevard no later than 7:00 a.m. or your pick-up might be missed. Bins are to be set at the curb, at least one metre (3 feet) apart, with the wheels facing the house. This is so the truck machinery can pick up the bins.

Eco-Depot
For items that cannot be recycled, the nearest Eco-Depot is located in Pritchard and is known as the South Thompson Eco-Depot (at 1595 Martin Prairie Road). It is operated by the TNRD.

Recycling
The Village of Chase collects recycling every week. Mix all your recyclables together in your recycling cart – you don’t need to sort items. Make sure all your recyclables are rinsed of food. Learn what you can recycle from Recycle BC.

See our Waste Collection Schedule for details. On your collection day, place your carts at the curb between 5:30 and 7:00am. The lid on your cart needs to shut completely.

No plastic bags, film or overwrap should go in your recycling cart. Instead, take these back to a depot.

What items can go in your recycling cart?

Acceptable Items:

Newspapers, flyers, catalogues, magazines, telephone books
Household paper, paper gift wrap, greeting cards
Hot and cold beverage cups
Milk cartons and jugs
Tetra Pak boxes and cartons (e.g. soups, sauces)
Frozen dessert boxes (e.g. ice cream)
Boxboard boxes (e.g. cereal boxes)
Shredded paper (tie shredded paper firmly in a clear plastic bag)
Corrugated cardboard
Plastic clamshells (e.g. for baked goods)
Aluminum foil wrap, including aluminum take-out and baking containers
Microwavable bowls and cups
Metal cans and lids
Paper bags with single & multiple paper layers (i.e., pet food bags with no foil)
Plastic bottles, tubs, jugs and jars with caps and lids
Plastic cold drink cups and lids
Plastic garden plant pots and seedling trays
Plastic pails, less than 25L (i.e., laundry detergent, ice cream)
Spiral wound paper cans and lids (e.g. frozen juice)
Moulded boxboard (e.g. egg cartons, beverage trays)
Aerosol cans and caps
K-Cups (no grounds – put those in green waste)

All other items should be directed to either landfill or a facility that can take it (i.e. electronics).

Lost or Damaged Cart?

Please send us an email or call 250-679-3238 to report a lost or damaged recycling cart, or if you want to request an extra cart.

Electronics Recycling

Drop off end-of-life electronics at designated collection sites without charge. Collected electronics are then recycled responsibly.

Accepted items include:

Desktop computers
Computer monitors
Notebook computers
Desktop printers and fax machines
Televisions

Small Appliance Recycling

Small appliances such as fans, blenders, hairdryers, vacuums and microwaves, and power tools such as drills, glue guns, and power saws must be kept out of the garbage so they can be properly recycled.

Recycling for Businesses

Unfortunately, effective October 1, 2021, businesses do not qualify for Recycle BC curbside service. Please take your recyclables directly to South Thompson Eco-Depot (at 1595 Martin Prairie Road).

It is operated by the TNRD. Or, secure a private hauler. Recyclables cannot be disposed of in a garbage bin and will be subject to fines.
