Notice to Residents of Chase and Area who may be without a family doctor

It is important know that primary care services are still available, however they may look different for a period of time.

Here are options for you if you require medical services and do not have a local family doctor:

For basic primary care services (episodic, non-urgent):

  • Call 8-1-1 for health advice. This service is available 24/7 to speak to a nurse, pharmacist or dietitian or for help finding services.
  • Virtual health services are available that can address basic primary care needs such as:
    • First Nations Doctor of the Day for Indigenous Patients at 1-855-344-3800
    • Telus Health MyCare: an app to see a doctor, mental health counsellor or dietitian from your phone. Visit telus.com/en/personal-health/my-care or call 1-855-577-8838 for information.

For priority primary care services (cannot wait to be seen­-time sensitive – within 24 to 48 hours):

  • There are Urgent and Primary Care Centres (UPCCs) in:
    • Kamloops: 250-314-2256
    • Vernon: 250-541-1097
  • Virtual options through telehealth are also available to address priority needs. Please contact 8-1-1 for a list of virtual options or see list above.

For emergency services:

  • Call 911 or go to your nearest Emergency Department. Chase is available to provide emergency services Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Many community pharmacies offer emergency prescription refills. Please reach out to our local pharmacy (PharmaChoice in Chase at 250-679-8611) to see if this service is available.
